HENDERSONVILLE, TN - Hendersonville has been named as one of the top 10 cities in the United States for families.
The Sumner County community made Family Circle Magazine's top 10 list. Cities were chosen based on affordable housing, good neighbors, green spaces and great public schools.
The list examined cities with affordable housing, green space and schools. "The recognition is phenomenal and will come as no surprise to our 50,000 residents who proudly call Hendersonville home," Mayor Scott Foster said in the release. "Hendersonville is a great place to live, work, and play."
The magazine noted Hendersonville's friendly residents - who tend to look out for each other.
"There is a neighborly affection in Hendersonville where we all look out for one another. We work for the common good and take tremendous pride in the city we all love," said Don Long, Director of Economic and Community Development.
Long said Hendersonville marks 40 years as an incorporated city this summer.
The magazine gave Hendersonville High School a gold star for 315 seniors who logged around 20,000 hours of community service.
